Description
In 2005, Humana Inc. purchased a row of historic buildings adjacent to its iconic headquarters tower in downtown Louisville. These buildings were connected to the headquarters building and renovated to accommodate an open, casually elegant commons area that would facilitate interaction among Humana’s coworkers. A refined, café-style food service area, The Winner’s Circle, became the project centerpiece. It was also important to maintain the integrity of the architecture and history associated with the newly acquired buildings and to respond appropriately to the existing tower, designed by Michael Graves. Swope Design Group worked closely with the project architect throughout the project to create a warm, inviting, highly functional environment that achieved all of Humana’s goals for the project, affectionately dubbed “The HUB” or Humana Unity Building.
